The tragic incident, which claimed nearly 280 lives, struck a deeply personal chord with Dr Vayalil, himself a former medical student.<\/p>\n<h3>Key Highlights:<\/h3>\n<ul>\n<li><strong>Major Relief Package Announced:<\/strong> Dr Shamsheer Vayalil pledged AED 2.5 million (\u20b96 crore) in financial aid to victims\u2019 families and survivors of the Air India Flight 171 crash.<\/li>\n<li><strong>Targeted Assistance Breakdown:<\/strong>\n<ul>\n<li>\u20b91 crore each to the families of four deceased medical students.<\/li>\n<li>\u20b920 lakh each to five seriously injured students.<\/li>\n<li>\u20b920 lakh each to the families of five doctors who lost loved ones.<\/li>\n<li>Distribution coordinated with the Junior Doctors\u2019 Association at BJ Medical College.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n<li><strong>A Personal Connection:<\/strong> Dr Vayalil, a former student of Kasturba Medical College and Sri Ramachandra Medical College, said the visuals of the destroyed hostel reminded him of his own student life.<\/li>\n<li><strong>Remembering the Victims:<\/strong>The four students killed in the hostel crash were:\n<ul>\n<li>Jaiprakash Choudhary (Barmer, Rajasthan)<\/li>\n<li>Manav Bhadu (Shree Ganganagar, Rajasthan)<\/li>\n<li>Aaryan Rajput (Gwalior, MP)<\/li>\n<li>Rakesh Diyora (Bhavnagar, Gujarat)<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n<li><strong>Tragic Site Impact:<\/strong> The Boeing 787 struck the Atulyam hostel and mess block, destroying dormitories and dining facilities. Over 241 people onboard and at least 38 on the ground perished.<\/li>\n<li><strong>Survivor in Critical Recovery:<\/strong> Ritesh Kumar Sharma, a third-year student, survived hours under debris with leg injuries.
